Olympic flag arrives in Rio de Janeiro

RIO DE JANEIRO, Kompas.com -Olympic flag arrived in Rio de Janeiro, Monday (14/8/2012), the venue for the 2016 Olympics-called Goverment as a challenge facing Brazil and must be conquered the city.

The Mayor of Rio, Eduardo Paes, out of the plane carrying the flag, accompanied by Carlos Arthur Nuzman, President of the Organising Committee of the Olympic Games 2016 Rio Governor Sergio Cabral as well.

"The arrival of the Olympic flag signaling the onset of a period of transformation in this city," said Paes told reporters. "This is a unique opportunity for Brazil-time to organize a big party," he said.

On the same plane, down also the athletes Brazil. Some of which are looped in the Medal, obtained in lehar match in London, which ended Sunday with a new music, Fireworks, as well as light and lights.

"Arrived in Rio to carry flag is a pride for us, the athletes," said Roberto Scheidt, who won the Bronze Medal with Star paddle branch Bruno Prada.

"There should be improvements here (by number of medals), in Rio," said Scheidt.

Brazil won a total of 17 medals in London-three gold medals, five silver and nine bronze medals.

For Rio de Janeiro to host the Olympic Games, is a major challenge. The reason, it was then very chaotic and their infrastructure is very poor, as well as the kerapnya going on violence. Even so, the Government says, Rio-who is also the host of the 2014 World Cup-will improve all facilities of the city.

On Tuesday, the Olympic flag will be flown to Brasilia to be exhibited at a celebration attended by President Dilma Rousseff. The next day, the flag will be brought to the region North of Rio Paes in the Township as well as complex to the Western District of Alemao in Realengo.

Friday, Paes received the flag from the Mayor of London Boris Johnson in the London Olympics event marking the closure and begin to count down the next Olympics in 2016, which for the first time held in South American countries.
